솔숨 건축사사무소는 ‘소나무의 숨’이라는 이름처럼, 지역의 재료를 기반으로 도시에 따스한 생명력을 불어넣는 건축을 지향합니다. 익숙함 속에서 발견하는 즐거움, 그리고 공간을 채우는 사람들의 일상이 풍요로워지는 건축을 고민합니다. 사람의 감정을 담아낸 공간을 통해 집과 도시의 풍경을 그려 나가고자 합니다.

고려대학교에서 건축을 전공한 후, 한국과 유럽을 오가며 10여 년간 실무 경험을 쌓았습니다. 학부 시절, 한국 건축의 근간을 체득하고자 강원도 화천에서 대목수 수련을 거치며 한 채의 한옥을 직접 완성했습니다. 이 과정에서 경험한 재료의 정직한 물성과 장소의 맥락에 대한 깊은 이해는 지금까지 작업의 기반이 되고 있습니다.

졸업 후 평소 존경하던 건축가에게 직접 배우고자 스위스 취리히로 건너가 경력을 시작했습니다. 이후 약 10년간 유럽의 사무소에서 근무하며 영국 케임브리지 대학 신축 기숙사, UCL(유니버시티 런던 칼리지) Marshgate 프로젝트 등 도시에 섬세한 영향을 미치는 건축 프로젝트 설계에 참여했습니다. 현재는 서울에서 솔숨 건축사사무소를 운영하며, 고려대학교에서 설계 수업을 통해 학생들과 건축적 사고와 대화를 나누고 있습니다.

jaesung kim | director

A graduate of Korea University, Jaesung has a unique background that blends hands-on traditional craftsmanship with international expertise. After building a traditional Hanok as a trained master carpenter, he realised the profound impact of materials and context on architecture. Following a decade of professional practice in Europe—starting in Zurich and encompassing major institutional projects like UCL Marshgate and the University of Cambridge student housing—he returned to Seoul to establish solsum architects. Alongside the practice, he currently serve as a adjunct professor in architectural design at Korea University.
